The International Textile Biomass Alliance Becomes the International Transition & Bioproduction Alliance A Strategic Evolution to Address the Systemic Challenges of Industries Related to Sustainable Production and Circularity.

5/26/20262 min read

Montreal, May 26, 2026 – The International Textile Biomass Alliance today announced its name change to the International Transition & Bioproduction Alliance (ITBA). This decision, adopted by the Board of Directors, reflects the evolution of the Alliance's mission in line with UN Sustainable Development Goal 12, "Responsible Consumption and Production," and its strengthened commitment to excellence in the circular economy, sustainable production, and industrial transition.

A Broader Vision for Systemic Challenges

Since its inception, the Alliance has progressively expanded its scope beyond the textile sector to embrace a holistic approach to resource optimization. This evolution, approved by the Board of Directors, responds to the growing interconnections between different industrial sectors and the need to adopt a systemic vision in the face of planetary boundaries, perfectly aligned with SDG 12, which promotes sustainable consumption and production patterns.

"This decision by the Board of Directors reflects our commitment to actively contributing to SDG 12" explains Julien Tougeron, Chairman and CEO. "Our work has naturally led us to a broader understanding of the challenges of sustainable production, circularity, transition, and especially the challenges facing industries. We can no longer address issues of recycling, resource recovery, and knowledge transfer in isolation. Transition and circularity represent the excellence we strive for in truly responsible consumption and production patterns."

Enhanced Missions

Under this new identity, the Alliance maintains and strengthens its core missions:

  • Development and dissemination of advanced recycling technologies integrating the latest innovations in biotechnology and materials engineering.

  • Sharing knowledge about planetary boundaries and resource optimization strategies.

  • Supporting economic actors in adopting high-performance and economically viable circular business models.

  • Facilitating international collaborations to accelerate the transition to a regenerative economy that benefits everyone.

A strengthened international approach

The new English name, International Transition & Bioproduction Alliance (ITBA), reflects the organization's global ambition and its desire to unite industrial and institutional stakeholders worldwide.

"Transition is not just a technical concept; it's a philosophy of action that recognizes that optimizing resources requires international coordination and a systemic vision," explains Julien Tougeron, Chairman and CEO.

Continuity and new opportunities

This transition is accompanied by complete continuity in existing partnerships and ongoing projects. It also opens up new opportunities for collaboration with stakeholders from diverse sectors who share this vision of a sustainable transition.

The Alliance invites all stakeholders committed to the transition to a sustainable economy to join this collective momentum.

New visuals

This transition is also reflected in its new logo, which embodies all aspects of our mission.

The Alliance invites all its partners and members to update their communication materials as well.
